Terms of Service
1. Who we are
Clarify is operated by Clarify Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Our service is available at getclarify.co.uk.
You can contact us at hello@getclarify.co.uk for any questions about these terms.
2. What Clarify is — and what it is not
Clarify uses artificial intelligence to help you understand the plain-English meaning of documents you upload. Specifically, Clarify can:
- Summarise the key points of a document in plain English
- Answer questions about the content of a specific document you have uploaded
- Flag clauses, dates, obligations, and risks that appear in your document
- Help you understand what a document says — not what you should do about it
Clarify cannot:
- Give you legal advice about your rights or obligations
- Tell you whether a contract is enforceable or fair
- Represent you in any dispute
- Guarantee the accuracy of any AI-generated summary or answer
- Replace a solicitor, financial adviser, or other regulated professional
3. Creating an account
To use Clarify you must create an account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password with anyone. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@getclarify.co.uk.
4. Your subscription and payment
Free plan
The free plan allows you to upload up to 3 documents per month and ask up to 10 questions per document. No payment details are required for the free plan.
Paid plans
Clarify Pro and Clarify Family are paid subscription plans billed monthly or annually. Current pricing is displayed on our pricing page. Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
Free trial
Paid plans include a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and your payment method will be charged.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access to paid features until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law.
Refunds
If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment (not a free trial), you are entitled to a full refund under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Contact us at hello@getclarify.co.uk to request a refund.
Price changes
We may change our prices from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase by email. If you do not cancel before the price change takes effect, you accept the new price.
5. Acceptable use
You may use Clarify for personal and professional document comprehension. You must not use Clarify to:
- Upload documents you do not have the right to share
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or obscene
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Clarify platform
- Use Clarify to provide legal, financial, or professional advice to third parties for payment
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits through multiple accounts or other means
- Use automated tools to interact with Clarify without our written permission
- Upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
6. Your documents and content
You retain ownership of any documents you upload to Clarify. By uploading a document, you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of providing the Clarify service to you.
We do not claim any ownership over your documents. We do not use your documents to train AI models. We do not share your documents with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. AI accuracy and limitations
Clarify uses large language model AI (currently Anthropic's Claude) to process your documents and generate responses. You should be aware of the following limitations:
- AI can make mistakes. Summaries and answers may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. Always read the original document for anything important.
- AI answers are based on your document only. Clarify does not have access to external legal databases, case law, or up-to-date regulatory information unless it appears in your document.
- AI is not a professional. No AI-generated response should be treated as legal, financial, or professional advice.
- Context matters. AI may miss nuance, jurisdiction-specific rules, or facts that only a qualified professional would know to look for.
We recommend treating Clarify as a starting point for understanding your document — not as a final authority on what it means or what you should do.
8. Shared briefings
Clarify Pro and Family plans allow you to generate shareable briefing links for your documents. When you share a briefing link:
- Anyone with the link can view the briefing
- The briefing includes the AI-generated summary and any content you choose to share
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share the document content
- You can revoke shared links at any time from your account
9. Service availability
We aim to make Clarify available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may occasionally take the service offline for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.
We will try to give advance notice of planned maintenance. We are not liable for any losses caused by service interruption.
10. Intellectual property
The Clarify platform, including its design, code, branding, and AI prompts, is owned by Clarify Ltd and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the Clarify platform without our written permission.
The Clarify name, logo, and brand are trademarks of Clarify Ltd.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clarify Ltd is not liable for:
- Any losses arising from reliance on AI-generated summaries or answers
- Any indirect, consequential, or special losses
- Any losses arising from service interruption or data loss
- Any decisions made based on Clarify's output without independent professional verification
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Clarify is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Your consumer rights
If you are a consumer (using Clarify for personal use, not business use), you have statutory rights under UK consumer law that these terms do not affect. These include:
- The right to a 14-day cooling-off period for digital services purchased online
- Rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the service is not as described
- The right to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service or Trading Standards if you have a complaint we cannot resolve
13. Termination
You can close your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing hello@getclarify.co.uk. We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the service. We will give you reasonable notice where possible.
If we discontinue Clarify entirely, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and provide a way to export your data.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you continue to use Clarify after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.
If you do not accept the updated terms, you may cancel your subscription and close your account before the changes take effect.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you have a complaint about Clarify, please contact us first at hello@getclarify.co.uk. We will do our best to resolve it within 5 working days.
